BOODJAMULLA (Lawn Hill) National Park.

We stopped for lunch at World War 2 airfield and the bitumen ran out not long afterwards.

Suddenly there was cool, clear, running water. How often we take it for granted! We crossed the O'shannasy river and then the Gregory River, both OK although the second causeway had a really strong flow across it which started to push Ken's van sideways causing him gun the engine.

Just up the hill was the Miyumba bush camp in the Boodjamulla National Park (Lawn Hill). We booked online for two nights. No facilities except two very clean loos, but very peaceful.
We bush- bashed to the adjacent Gregory River and had a wonderful swim in the lagoon, hoping the local fresh water crocs were not disturbed by our presence. The next day we walked down the road to the river and found an even better swimming hole just upstream of the causeway. Beautiful, cool, clear water on our dusty bodies!! Ken put two crab pots in while we were swimming but had no luck. Pity!
RIVERSLEIGH D SITE.

Just after we left the Miyumba bush camp we stopped at the World Heritage Riversleigh D site to view the fossils found there. National Parks have done an amazing job in so many places and this was one. The pathway was clear and access made easy with great steps and clear information boards so we knew what we were looking at. The view from the top of the hill was panoramic.
